Glass Bulletin & Messe Düsseldorf India jointly led webinar on future of Indian glass industry


Glass Bulletin (GB) and Messe Düsseldorf India (MDI) came together to organize a webinar on the theme of Future of Glass Industry for Flat Glass on September 15, 2020. The session featured eminent speakers from the industry who deliberated and shared their perspectives on the future of the Indian glass industry.

The webinar began with a welcome note by Mr Thomas Schlitt, Managing Director, MDI. The panellists were Mr Divyendu Pundhir, Vice President and CEO of Gujarat Guardian Limited, Mr Chaitanya Madan of Manchu Toughened Glass, Mr Ali Kamil, Director of Kaenat Glass, Mr J D Pawar, glass industry consultant, Mr Shetha Bhavesh, Director of Naitri Enterprise, and Mr Prashant Bagkar, Business Head at Pulsar Technologies.

Mr Thomas Schlitt announced the new dates of glasspro INDIA 2021 – scheduled for September 23-25, 2021 in Mumbai. He also introduced a new segment that will be part of the exhibition – fenestrationpro INDIA.

The moderators mentioned that though the pandemic exists and the impact looks little controlled but the country and the glass industry have been going through a difficult time in past few months. The glass industry is anticipated to bounce back by the collective efforts of the stakeholders and supported by the government's initiatives and policies.

The other discussion between the panellists counted in positive opinion that the coming year would be big for the industry and projected significant growth for the glass sector. The main pointers of discussion included customer’s requirements in the present day, profit margins, designer glass industry, export of made in India designer glass, quality over price, How ‘Make in India’ was gaining traction in the industry, the right time to invest in the glass industry

The webinar also conducted an opinion poll, in which, all panellists and participants voted on questions on the glass industry in India to map the better possibilities of growth in the sector. As a result, 63 per cent said “Yes” to the question if they thought that 2021 would be huge for the glass industry, 62 per cent said “Yes” On if they thought this is the right time to invest or expand and 82 per cent of participants voted “Yes” on the question if they are following the minimum credit policy
